Recreational Fire Permit Online Registration Form
Residents must have a recreational burn permit on file with the Meridian Township Fire Department in order to conduct any burning. Only owners of one- and two-family dwellings are eligible to use this online form. To apply for a recreational fire permit for another property type, please call the fire department at
517.853.4700

Please note that once you submit your application, you will be automatically registered, and no further action is required.
Note for renters:
Permits will only be issued to property owners. Contact your landlord to register your recreational fire pit.
*Burn permits are free to obtain and valid for one year.

Conditions:
It is never permissible to burn garbage, leaves, brush, grass clippings, or building materials.
A means of extinguishment, such as a garden hose, sand, or fire extinguisher, must be on site.
A recreational fire must be constantly attended by an adult until the fire is extinguished.
The fire must be completely extinguished by midnight.
Any violation of these conditions will result in the issuance of a violation notice, and sanctions may be imposed, up to and including revocation of the permit and/or issuance of a civil infraction fine.
